Lost the plot 2

And now the very, very noisy minority want to starve us and many of our inland towns and cities to death.

While there is something to be said for having environmental flows in our inland rivers, what has been suggested by the Murray-Darling inquiry is both ridiculous and outrageous.

Some of these people need to get out of their offices in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide and go and have a look at inland NSW and Victoria. They could start with the Upper Lachlan area. While there has been some rain to alleviate the drought, Wyangala Dam is at about 35%. Why? Because it needs some major work on the spillway, but no one had enough brains to do it while the dam was empty. Typical of the NSW State Government! Another area of neglect has been the Menindee Lakes

We should have enough water in this country to be more than adequate, out problem is now two-fold:
  1. The Labor Party has sold it's soul to the Greens;
  2. No one has enough foresight to do what needs to be done in terms of infrastructure.

Lost the plot 1

It would seem that the Gillard led Labor Government have lost the plot. They have sold their souls, and sold out most of their supporters, just to appease a very, very noisy minority (the Greens and the so called Independents).

They want to take us back 100 years. They have finally worked out a way to tax us for breathing, breathing out in this case, by taxing carbon. It is nothing short of a rort, but the hairy arm-pitted, dangly earring mob are getting their way. They will be happy when we are lighting up our computer screens by candle.

AFL Grand Final

Well the AFL Grand Final was the great anti-climax - a draw!

What I can't quite understand is, that for all the other matches in the final series, if there is a draw then they have extra time. Why not the same for the Grand Final?

Now in Melbourne and in some other parts of Australia, AFL is a religion. Think of the inconvenience for all the people who now have to arrange to get back to Melbourne for the replay.

The solution for the future is obvious. There should be 10 minutes extra time each way in the event of a draw. If it is still a draw after extra time, then have a replay the next week.

Toilets in the workplace

A theoretical workplace somewhere in NSW:
A staff of say 25 men and 1 female;
The workplace is being redeveloped and demountable buildings are put in place including staff toilets;
The staff toilet is a block that contains 5 "stalls" where the partitions start about 30cm above the floor and are about 170cm high;
The female staff member is told - "That's it, you can have exclusive use of the end stall if you really want to."
This would by all standards be considered totally unacceptable.

A real workplace somewhere in NSW:
A staff of 25 females and 1 male - the roles are reversed but everything else remains the same;
It is considered acceptable for the male to have to put up with these conditions.
(And the females drop toilet paper on the floor - they should never complain about a seat being left up, not that that has ever happened.)

Why different standards for female and male staff?

Just another example of the reverse discrimination that occurs and no one, including the union, want to know about it.

My Government (the opposite of My School) [an update]

An update to the My Government report

Industrial Relations and Fair Work - 25% (yes, it's going backwards)

Strange how the Minister for Education and the Minister for Industrial Relations are one in the same. Maybe she should concentrate on being the Deputy Prime Minister.

"My School"

Q. What difference will the 'my school' website make to the 25 Year 3 students in my class?
A. Absolutely nothing!

My Government (the opposite of My School)

Yes the Rudd Government has 'my school' to try to take a big stick to teachers, so here is an alternative view:

My Government

Grocery Watch - Failure - 0%
Petrol Watch - Failure - 0%
Health Reform - Failure - 0%
Industrial Relations and Fair Pay - 50%
My School - depends who you ask really

Why is the Government carrying on about it? Well, the others were failures, but this has got some interest from voters, so they are trying to make the most of it. Cynical at best.

Fireworks - Action at last

At long last something has happened with regard to the anti-social behaviour of illegal fireworks.

According to press reports, fireworks were being fired at cars, houses and passers-by on New Years Eve. The police had the riot squad at the ready, and 3 people were arrested. 2 were charged and the 3rd was cautioned.

It will be interesting to see how long the relative peace and quiet lasts.
