First it was Western Australia, then Victoria followed by New South Wales. And now Queensland.
When are the ALP going to wake up and listen to the grass root members. Local branches are well and truly over not getting a say in who their local member will be. If your lucky you might get a vote for a council pre-selection and maybe the ticket order for the council. I have been a member for 24 years and NEVER had a say in who the local federal or state member will be. They just get shoe-horned in by the State Office. I am still yet to work out how you would ever get onto the ticket for the Senate or NSW Upper House. How does anyone get on the Administrative Committee?
It would seem that there are some unions, branches and factions that have more than their fair say. And some of the people they put in, do not stand for what may be called "traditional Labor values".
The same thing is more than likely going to happen at the next Federal election. Maybe then there will be some real change in the ALP.
